Layers of creamy potatoes, savory ground beef, and gooey cheese, all baked to perfection. It’s a simple, satisfying meal that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or a cozy weekend gathering.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground Beef 1 pound
Yellow Onion, Diced 1
Potatoes, Peeled and Sliced 3-4 pounds
Cheddar Cheese, Shredded 8 ounces or more
Cheddar Cheese Soup Mix 1 can
Evaporated Milk or Whole Milk 12 ounces
Milk 1/2 cup
Salt 1 teaspoon
Pepper 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Cook Meat and Onions: Brown ground beef and diced onion in a skillet. Drain excess grease.
  3. Layer Casserole:
    • Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
    • Layer potatoes, meat mixture, and cheese in the dish, repeating until ingredients are used.
  4. Prepare Sauce: Combine cheese soup mix, evaporated milk, and milk in a bowl. Pour over the layered casserole.
  5. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.

Tip: For thicker potatoes, increase baking time as needed.
