Steak-umm Philly with Nacho Cheese
Sizzling beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and a spicy nacho cheese drizzle — a fast and flavor-packed sandwich!
Ingredients (Makes 2–3 sandwiches):
-
6–8 slices Steak-umm beef sandwich steaks
-
1 tbsp butter or oil
-
1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
-
1/2 onion, thinly sliced
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
-
1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade — see below)
-
2–3 hoagie rolls or sub buns, lightly toasted
Instructions:
1. Sauté Peppers & Onions:
-
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter or oil.
-
Add sliced onions and peppers. Sauté until soft and slightly caramelized (6–8 minutes).
-
Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.
2. Cook the Steak-umms:
-
In the same pan, cook Steak-umm slices according to package directions.
-
Use a spatula to break them apart and brown evenly (about 3–4 minutes total).
-
Sprinkle in paprika for extra smoky flavor if desired.
3. Warm the Nacho Cheese:
-
Heat the cheese sauce in a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan until smooth and pourable.
-
For extra spice, stir in a spoonful of diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne.
4. Assemble the Sandwich:
-
Layer beef, peppers, and onions into each toasted hoagie roll.
-
Generously drizzle with warm nacho cheese.
-
Optionally: toast the whole sandwich in the oven (broil for 1–2 minutes) for melty perfection.
Optional Homemade Nacho Cheese:
Mix and melt:
-
1 tbsp butter
-
1 tbsp flour
-
3/4 cup milk
-
1 cup shredded cheddar
-
Pinch of salt, chili powder & cumin
Cook until thick and smooth — takes about 5–7 minutes.
