  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

For the Topping:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cake

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Prepare the Batter
    • In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks with 3/4 cup of sugar until pale and fluffy. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
    • In another bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
    • Gently fold the egg whites into the yolk mixture, then fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Bake
    • Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Step 2: Soak the Cake

  1. Poke Holes
    • Use a fork or skewer to poke holes all over the cooled cake.
  2. Add Milk Mixture
    • In a bowl, whisk together evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. Slowly pour the mixture over the cake, ensuring it soaks in evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Step 3: Make the Topping

  1. Whip Cream
    • In a large bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  2. Assemble
    • Spread the whipped cream evenly over the soaked cake. Top with sliced strawberries.
