Best Goulash

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce (optional for extra sauce)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the beef and onions:

    • In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
    • Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Add the seasonings and liquids:

    • Stir in the garlic, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
    • Pour in the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce (if using), and beef broth.
  3. Cook the macaroni:

    • Bring the mixture to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and stir.
    • Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 15 minutes or until pasta is tender.
  4. Final touches:

    • Stir everything well. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.
