Cheese Sauce for Fries

Cheese Sauce for Fries that’s perfect for drizzling, dipping, or dunking!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for added flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Butter:

    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s fully liquefied.
  2. Make the Roux:

    • Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns a light golden color. This step removes the raw flour taste.
  3. Add Milk:

    • Gradually pour in the warm milk while whisking constantly. Keep whisking until the sauce thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Add the Cheese:

    • Reduce heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Season:

    • Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve:

    • Pour the warm cheese sauce over crispy fries, or serve it as a dip on the side.

Pro Tip: For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick!

Enjoy your cheesy, gooey fries!
