Easy Chow Mein Sauce
A bold, balanced sauce that clings perfectly to stir-fried noodles and veggies — made in minutes with pantry staples.
Ingredients (makes about 1/2 cup of sauce):

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1 tbsp oyster sauce (adds richness – optional but recommended)

1 tbsp hoisin sauce (adds sweetness and depth)

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp sugar (brown sugar or honey works too)

2 tsp cornstarch (to thicken)

1/4 cup water or chicken broth

1 clove garlic, minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Optional: 1/4 tsp ground ginger or fresh grated ginger

Optional: pinch of white pepper or chili flakes for heat
Instructions:

Mix the Sauce:

In a small bowl or jar, whisk all ingredients together until smooth.

Make sure the cornstarch dissolves fully.

Cook It with Noodles:

Stir-fry your meat/veggies/noodles.

Pour the sauce over the cooked ingredients in the hot pan.

Stir for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.

No oyster sauce? Sub with a bit more hoisin or soy sauce.
